Socints Review

Socints is a new social networking site that allows you to meet people and be social, and in return you earn points that you can use to buy rewards. Here is my review.

Term Socint = Member

How it all works
The site lets you sign up and interact with other members. As you socialize you earn points. Here are the activities you can do on the site as well as the allocation of points: Sign In (5 points), Update Status (3 points), Update Mood (2 points), Message a Socint(5 points),Profile Comment(5 points),ChatRoom (5 points),Topics (3 points),Topics Comment(2 points),Groups(3 points),Groups Comment(2 points)Polls(3 points),Polls Comment(2 points),Rate (3 points),Rate Comment (2 points),MyLife(3 points),MyLife Comment(2 points),Event Comment (3 points). This gives you a grand total of 53 points per day. Other ways to make points are to upload a special profile picture featuring yourself with your username and Socints website name. It can not be edited in (5 points), and the refer people to the site (100 points). There is no tiered referral system.

The Rewards
There are 2 types of rewards, Raffle and Purchase. You can use your points to buy raffle tickets or you can just purchase the reward. The rewards consist of: 2000 socint points, $10 credit to PayPal, 4GB Apple Ipod Shuffle, 8GB Apple Ipod nano, $50 credit to PayPal account, or $10 credit to Alert Pay account. Not bad. The prices are different depending on whether or not you are purchasing a raffle ticket of buying the reward. Point cost ranges from 150 points to 7500 points.

My Rating
the site is small, and is still growing. I think that their needs to be more rules edited onto the site so that spamming is cut down. I wish that there was a forum board, as right now there is only a live chat option. To get a $10 cash payout to your paypal you have to have 7500 points. (7500/53points per day= 142 days) Now you can also refer people, but you would have to refer at least 75 people to earn $10. I think that as the site grows, it may be possible to earn points faster. I do not believe it is a scam, here is a picture of payment from Socint (not myself)

Overall, I feel that if you like social websites, if you have the time each day to accumulate the points (10 mins), or have friends that you could refer to earn points, it can be somewhat beneficial. My final rating is that it is harmless. Below is a link to the site, If you join, don't forget to add me as a friend (username: Courtom)

Killer looks really do kill...

So I was perusing the make-up aisle yesterday night, and couldn't decide what to purchase. In the end I decided that I would do some more research on the products and find the ones that will look the best with my skin, eyes, etc. I was cruising Youtube when I stumbled upon a link showcase the truth of make-up and animal testing

Watching this video definitely made me appreciate my decision to not buy any make-up products without doing research. There are vegan and mineral make-up products out there, and I encourage you to look into them. Below is the video, I warn you, it is upsetting.

I hope that after watching that video, you too will not ever want to purchase or support companies that test their products on animals. I recommend this website if you would like to do more research on a company, or product. Find out what companies do not test, and what companies kill these poor animals for the sake of vanity.

Dropship Wholesale?

Okay, so i have stumbled upon a potential way to make money. I am going to be doing a lot more research. Basically you become a retailer and sell products through a dropship wholesaler. These companies have established relationships with suppliers and allow you to sell the products. You sell them at whatever mark up price you wish, and you pay for the item after you sell. They then ship the item and pay for everything else in between. Below is one site I have found, and it is ranked the second best on my review sites, second only to Doba (they have a much more expensive monthly fee of $50). So from what I have found, this seems to be a great deal. Try it out with me!

My Camping Trip..

One weekend I went with my mother's boyfriend, his younger daughter, and his yellow lab to go up to his "hunt camp" for a night of camping. He bought a land bound hunting property of over 25 acres north of Peterborough. It took us almost two hours to get to the camp following the 2km trail... you may be thinking "2 hours to go 2 kms?" Yes! We had many down trees (good thing we had a dull chainsaw) that we had to cut away. We had tried to go around the largest one because it was to big to be cut. After getting lost, and finding our way way, we found that our bridge was out. Beavers had built a dam which caused flooding over a low area in the trail. The bridge had been there the previous summer, but was no longer safe to ride across. I delicately balanced along a down log, and tied the ATV winch around a tree. We winched the ATV and trailer across and continued. More trees, a severely bruised foot from a failed attempt to roll a giant log, mosquito bitten skin, and I was starting to wonder.. "why?" Finally we got to camp, tired, muddy, bitten, but relieved.

My mother's boyfriend removed the screws that were holding wood over the door of the bus to keep critters out. Unfortunately, propped at the top on the door was a birds nest. It fell and was caught. We discovered day old swallow chicks, three of them. We placed them on a ledge in the same area and waited for the parents to return, hoping our scent wouldn't keep them away. Our camp consisted of a cleared area, with a fire pit, table, and two old buses. One of the basses had been converted into sleeping quarters. We decided we had better start dinner as it was already starting to get dark. Wait, we couldn't start dinner... Maddy, the yellow lab had a swollen face. She had hives all over her head and the right side of her mouth had grown to be the size of a golf ball. She was having an allergic reaction to some sort of bug bite. My mother's boyfriend had to take the ATV and trek the 2 kilometers back to the truck to get our forgotten Benadryl. He decided that while he was there he would attack the giant tree that had at first set us off course. He came back about half an hour later, and we fed Maddy the pill.

We had hamburgers for dinner, and as night fell, it got cooler. The parent birds had not return, and we knew that the birds would not make the night, we kept them warm by the fire. When we decided to retire for bed, we lit a burner on the stove and placed the birds next to it. We woke up in the morning to see that they were still alive. My mother's boyfriend and I went for a morning ATV ride while his daughter slept. We traveled over 10 kms through hilly, muddy terrain. It was all worth it for the smells, sounds, and views. We were followed the whole time by his trusty dog. We stopped by the lake and she decided to cool off for a bit. I only wish I had my camera with me. When we got back we decided that the baby birds had to be put out of their misery. They were moving less and less, and their chirping had subsided. Before his daughter woke up he took them into the forest and did what he had to. I cried like a baby, but tried not to let him know. We had bacon, egg, and cheese on a toasted bun for breakfast. Soon after, we packed up, and made our way home.

Some old art

I did this piece (right) over a year and a half ago while still in my final year of high school. This is my first attempt at a water color painting. You care suppose to start with light bases and get darker, it is harder than i thought it would be, but i caught on pretty quick. I started on the Buffalo, and saved the wolf for last. This was wet on dry paper. It was 6" x 6" in size.

This was a pastel project (left) We had to do in school. It was 20" x 24". There were many stages, and this was my final piece it had to be inspired from a vegetable. Can you guess what it was? Probably not, lol, Celery! It reminds me of fire though.

Pastels is my least favorite medium, but I think that is because it is so messy. I love how well the colors can blend together, and how rich they are as well. Watch this video of speed painting done entirely with pastels, truly amazing!

I made this poster in 2006 when I was in grade ten. I won fifty dollars, and received a couple certificates. I came second in the third division. I do not like to paint people, and often sketch. I roughly sketched it and started to paint the flag, the rich red colors got me comfortable, but in the end, I chose not to tint/paint the portrait of the veteran.

I was upset to receive my poster back folded a couple times, as you can see. It was 20" X 24" and was done in acrylic paint and pencil

Makes cents

Thought I would post and share about a very easy way to make a little pocket money. When posting a link on your website or blog, use this website. It pays you every time someone leaves your site. Minimum payout is $5.00 which isn't bad, and you can earn up to $1.00 per click depending on the ad type. The amount of money you will receive for that click will depend upon the type of link you submit and also the country the clicker is from. The best paying of the 3 adverts is the intermission. You will be paid $1 per 2000 clicks on your link. The pop-up you will be paid $1 per 2500 clicks, and the top banner you will be paid $1 per 4500 clicks.

First Digital SLR

So I have been doing some research, and have found the Canon Rebel 300D. I found a used one on a local ad posted on Kijiji, and I think that it would be a great first digital SLR. It comes with a 18mm-55mm lens that has never been used, two batteries and a charger, memory cards, the original box and manual. The man I have spoken to says he can blow pictures up to 20"-36" and they look stunning. More specs on this camera here.
